Add to list of yg lost few days: Pile Siskin. Berkeley to Lake Isabella, Kern Co., Calif. Larry M. Conway 12 June Departed Berkeley ~ 3:00 p.m. + drove S on Hwy 5, E on Hwy 46, continued E on (? ?) West to Glenville, than E on 155 to Cedar Gr. campground (T. 25S, R. 32E, N WY sec. 19) where we spent night. On Hwy 5, ~10am: N of Jxn. w 46 saw 1 Bl.-necked Stilt along drainage culvert, on Hwy 46 between Famoso + Glenville saw (30m) 1 White-t. Kite, 1 Short-eared Owl + 1 family 1 Burrowing Owls, 1 Bubo virginianus. ~8 mi. E of Glenville, Kern Co., Calif. 13 June Drove to site 2 mi. E Red Mtn. (see catalog) when a bound overshot exist, & coll. 7 Fox Sparrows. The dominant plants Elderberry 1-3m (Sambucus mexicana) 35 - 75%, ~10% bow ground, many dead fallen logs; many standing snags, Rikes - ≤10%, some grow, some live incuse cedar, some Baccharis sp. + misc. ground cover. Surprisingly there were mangroves a carnations. The surrounding conifer community (+ a few Quercus) is comprised of black oak- + few young pines Abies concolor + Jeffrey Pine Li bo cedrus decurrens, [illegible] ? We hunted until 6930 + than went to Rhyno campgrove to work on specimens. Returned to morning spot in P.h. + walked around further - there seem to be few
