M. Zink 1978 Journal Stanislaus National Forest, Tuolumne Co. Calif. 27 May roads branching off the main road + several camping spots ("formal") So, I'm not actually sure where I am because of the non- existence of signs, however I'm near: In the 1/2 hrs. from 19:00 - 20:30, while driving this road I saw many Robins gathering grit along road of Bl. headed Grosbeak, Accipiter striatus (prob?) perched in small tree along road Stanislaus Nat. Forest, Tuolumne Co. California - on Cottonwood Rd side branch [20] mi. from Tuolum) which leads to Reynolds Creek 28 May Fairly dense coniferous forest along this rd. Spent 06:00 - 07:00 bird-watching along road. Saw/heard: Sevr. Wood Pewee, fair Hermit Warbler (in tall spruce), B.C. Chickadee (giving spring call), MacGill. Warbler [low underbrush along roadside], many times 2 copulating White-headed Wadpors, Robin, B.B. Warbler, Bus. Greuper, + many calls/songs of which I'm not yet familiar. See sp. list for Varuna grembeli. Also call, singing Walb. Vireo, silent western Brown. At the opening near creek saw a & West Tan. breeding nest + Olive - S. Flycatcher, [illegible], [illegible] [illegible], Gray Squirrel, B.H. Grosbeak, 28, 7 Nigra.
