Sorby Observations
Saughen Creek 6400 ft, 3 mi NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif.
June 20 Took 3 in the stream near line - all along the tributary in grassy meadow.
June 21 Took 5 in the Microbus Grd. I still alive but died after 45 minutes in bottle with oatmeal - did not attempt to eat the cereal. All had a peculiar skunk-like odor - quite diff. from the more "metallic" odor of Ornatiss Book in Berkes.
One (#2200) had a relatively long tail (51mm) but on close inspection could not see that it differed from other in any other characters. Another was a lateral view slightly enlarged but I could not make out any scales microscopically. One of the animals had a (worm-?) worm in intestines about 1 mm wide.
