A.C. Bicknell 1960 Journal 8\frac{1}{2} mi. S Baore, 6500'ft, Mono Co. California Slightly more sandy than first two. Drove to LeeVining for supper + drove up LeeVining Castle Road for 5.2+ mi. To Big Bend Campground where set 10 mouse snap traps along castlelike water shrews. Got only 5 Peromyscus maniculatus . Camp is free, has no water except stream, it has a few scattered out house latrines + garbage cans. Relatively unimproved througt out so a person ought to be able to camp in the aspens here whether Tourist Season or not. A scattered shower or two during night. At 0500 July 24 got a large bug hording thru camp. Drove back to Mono Lake to pick up traps. At first location: Party had set 25 large + 20 small Shermans + caught: Microtine - 11+ Diro - 4 (sp?) Peromyscus maniculatus - 10+ Perognathus(ARVUS?) - 1 Eutamias - 5 Saw 4 or 5 Lepus along road about 0630 - I was about half grown.
