A.C. ZIEGLER 1960 JOURNAL July 23 Sonora Pass, 9625+ ft. Tuolumne Co., Calif. Left Berkeley with Tao Kelley, a BA in Zoology entering V.C. grad school in Fall, in Dr. Quay's car at 0630. Arrived Sonora Pass about 1100 where we shot some species for Dr. Quay's SWN collection for classes (200/10/6) use. Got: 4 Citellus beecheyi, 1 wh-crd spae, 1 leucos-cr'd spae, 1 vesper spae. Dr. Quay got 2 Bluebirds (m?) & a finch of some sort. Saw 3 clants Nuttall's, Allen (4 annn?) Wrens, Juncos, Robins & A Juva(?) Finch, [illegible] looking n(?), or Hyrcan Hg?? Drove to above locality (about 8.9 mi E of Main Hwy cutoff) & I set 20 small Shelmans + Quay + Kelley set 25 large Shelmans. Saw a JTA - type lizard. Drove on E on Hawthorne Rd for 2.0 mi more. & I set 14 small Shelmans + Quay + Kelley set [illegible] large Shelmans. Saw Gopher workings along edge of road at this locn. & made 8 sets of 2 traps each. Saw a Lewis chick near here at 1630 along road. Photo taken of T.P. Kelley looking S.
