Spee's + 4 red years mostly in damp, mossy conifer woods with no under-story. Dr. Quay set 12 #1 steel traps in the numerous Aplodontia burrows in the 20-foot strip of thick 3-ft. high brush beside road. Mo. set 25 [illegible] shermans in thick woods area. 23 JUNE Got 6 P. maniculatus (crewe?) and one clethravomys in snares. Dr. Q. got no Aplodontia but several years were spare so he reset + left to pick up later in day. [illegible] got 5 P. maniculatus. 22 JUNE 5.3 mi. (by road) N ver. Dungeness & Greenwolf Rivers (7.29N, P.3W) Clarkson Co., WASH. I set away 5 years in wet swales just beside road. Mo. set no years. Dr. Q. set 25 shermans along a wood-land stream. I found a yellow & black Thamnophis and two brown & reddish "" unob 2 rocks only a foot apart in overgrown pastures. Found a "best-bug-like" lucano beetle (?) (coll. by S.A. Micasoff) 23 JUNE Kent years about 0630 t + got one Lyc. a Scapanus in the 5 snares, 2 others spare - possibly by Aplodontia. Dr. Quay got 7 P. maniculatus, 1 [illegible] (crewe) + 1 breeds.
