A.C. zigler 1954 Diadoonys elephantinus EAST ENTRANCE PINNACLES NATL MON, 1100 FT San Benito Co Cal. Mar, 22 Dr Quigou B F, 207 x I took 1 F with 20mm EMB's. Dr. Q's q f had vulva open. Both D. (He Q took 103 + 2 f hegmanni-vulva closed) hegmanni & THIS SP. OCCUR ON THE HART-OGEN "CHAMISE" SLOPES AT THIS LOCALITY. Dr. Q has found that the two are breeding at diff. times, too. Elephaninus is breeding now & I think he said hegmanni will breed later. Traps set at bases of bushes seem to get more than traps set in open here - at least last nite this was so - there was a newy full moon 'til 2 or 3 in morning. Peromyscus manic is common in the thicker brush lower on slopes (ie. near the highway) but Oikos + permos P. maniculatus take over higher on slopes.
