Microdocoons (megareconaus?)
7 mi. S, 4 mi. E Boole, 6500 ft, Mono Co, Calif.
July 1 Dr. Quay + Dennis Gamby took 8 at this location. Fine snow with a couple of old owes. Small bushes 5-10 ft. apart. Many recent tracks in snow. Assoc's mammals: D.pro ozot, D. panaminius (D. mac) also Peromyscus maniculatus. The Microdocoon seems intermediate in characters given for Peromys + megareconaus in Hahn + Verson 1959 Mamm's of N. Amer. The nasal + premx bones; long h. no foot; all white ventral (illegible) hair and habitat agree with Dollicious but the range, general color (E.g. black or dark), and perhaps skull size(?) differ w. the Microdocoon. So we are still sort of unclear about the correct specific designation.
Aug 24 3 taken Aug. 20, 1959 by Dr. W. B. Quay at 6500 toony. Ank 9 ft. Heaviest 2 had 4 old scars + 2 old scars respectively. No fat. Trails thin and no sign seems "baby" on a couple of the tails.
