Madeira Co. Calif.
Mar. 6
Mare lost in captivity in Berkeley since Dec.
26, 1959 had large testes and epididymis.
Tubules quite apparent. Animal was fairly small (205 mm.) but perhaps this is characteristic of SSP, mews. A.C.I.Z. # 1356, Rec. 7627.
Dick said one animal was not noticeably smaller when his dog dug it out of burrow than it was at time of presentation.
Short amount of fat noticed when skinning. Dick also said up to a week or so ago animal was relatively quiet at night but recently has become very restless at night. This possibly could be connected somehow with perhaps start of breeding season since animal in obvious breeding condition when presented.
Strawberry Canyon, 850 ft, Berkeley, Alameda Co. Calif.
Mar. 31
1 Ø with large testes (existing) and epididymis. Tubules very evident. Goats do not seem to be throwing out too much fresh diet at this time of year - diet in hems at feeding runs looks several days old usually about a week or so. Same sex condition as one on Mar.
Apr 1
3 Ø in same sex condition as one on Mar. 31, coats seem thick and no some molting or thin spots were present. Fleas and few ticks observed.
