June 28
None seen during day but I heard in
live trap by Dr. Quay. Area is sand-grassy-
yucca. Assoc'd mamm's Psammomys
Onychomys, Neotoma cearosa, Spermophilus.
1/2 mi. W Taft Rock R.D., 2425+ft., Kern Co., Calif.

Dr Quay took another in this area.
Mostly open sand & gravel with only a
few bushes scattered here & there.
Stone wall Pass, 4700+ft., Nye Co., Nevada
Mso 4.2 mi. S... and 4.2 mi. N...
June 29-30
"Many" seen along roads (ie. one every
100-200 yards along highway) often calling
with a bird-like trill or musical chatter.
Seem more common (sight records) along
roads than a few hundred feet [illegible] from
highway. Saw one sitting on very top of
a 2 ft. high bush about 8 AM June 30,
3 or 4, [including 2 yo] trapped at pass & vicinity.
Calling kept up till almost too dark to
see animals in evening.
