A.C. Zickler 1954 Joceman Grey Lodge Wildlife Refuge, Butte Co, California Deer (cont) Drove cars thru protected area of Refuge then parked & walked a mile or so around coops of sloughs & ponds. Saw 15+ Jack Rabbits feeding in day time & found remains of 1 Muskrat . Watched till 15 min's after Sunset to see evening flight of Birds from Refuge out to fields to feed. Impossible to count numbers of many species so listed as "Common" below. Day clear, warmish, little wind. Birds on Refuge: "Canada" Goose - 20+ White Fronted G. - 3 or 400+ Snow Goose - common Marrard - 2 or 300+ Goosark - 4 Bald Pate - 2 or 300+ Pin tail - common Gr-Winged Tern - 20-30 Shovelher - 40+ Ruddy - 1? Vulture, Turkey - 4 Red-Tailed - 2 Marsh Hawk - 1 Sparrow Hawk - 4 or 5 Quail (calif?) - 15 Phasent - 30-40 Sandhill Crane - 100+ Vibr. Rail - 1 (common) Gannwhle - 6 Coot - 75+ Killdeer - 15 Snipe - 4 Least S-Piper - 5 Dowitner - 6 Mourning Dove - 30+ Fruchet - 12
