A. Q. ZIEGELER 1959 JOURNAL Long ago, Ranch, 3525 ft., ½ mi. WNW Mt. Shasta P.O. T. Hon. R. & W. St. Siskiyou Co., Calif. June 5, 1959 Put up a Castor Thonomy (Mazomay) taken by Dr. Benson on June 12, 1958. Animal had been dead a day or so. Saved as "+ comp. skull." Dr. B. thought it might have been "Brockery." Few on careers almost exclusively, apparently. Will be noted to Benson - Thistle No. Calif. Acad. of 1958. Freeman Canyon, 4700+ ft., 1.8 mi. (by road) SE Walker Pass, Kern Co., Calif. June 27 Left Belden at 4:45 AM arrived Walker Pass 4:30 PM. Set out 15 small Sherman's, 2 Camper/Traps set - lost 2. Caught 2 rat-weasels. Camped this location. Companions: Dr. Quay & Dennis Calloway of Zoo LA. June 28 Got 6028 Peromyscus sp. ruscus 4 Peromyscus sp. (New loca. Read 2 P. maniculatus for miz - love to mains miz, is of miz.) 3 Onychomys (2 were yo.) 4 Neotoma koring 3 Dip. P. monacensis (?) + 1 small Peromyscus (=low members) Dr. Q & Dennis got about same variety & Dad Got 1 Antelope ground SA. ½ mi. W Inyokeen P.O. 2425+ ft., Kern Co., California June 28 Set out 21 small Sherman's in traps before using Denny at station evening of about 7:00 PM. Caught Rats & Antelope.
