A.C. Etcouee 1957 Journal San Juan Ranch, 3400 ft, 3 mi. E Montgomery (C.A.O., Shasta Co.) Sept. 1 (Skunk causes) and 6 Peromyscus maniculatus (kitten in rear). Set out 11 mazes & 1 open room. Ran maze at 1:00 pm. Got 2 Antidorcas mazos in rears & changed a third into a rear. Got 1 Sorex rowbridgii in #7000s thicket by black lake (skunk causes). Ran cornice + mus spce maze at 7:00 pm. Nothing in Mus Spce's but a Pteromys dead in a rag yard next to small table. Had four garners out of 5 sets. Reset spying rears at different runway systems. Shot bats at window & got a Hesionycterus. Dr. B. Got a Myotis californicus, kept 1 gorilla alive (#904 A.C.B.) to pay to work back to Berkeley. Set 33 live rears along grasslow dry mead. Sept. 2 Ran rears at 7:30 am & picked barn up. Had 4 garners - 1 of which was saved as captive (#911 A.C.B.) with a chewed up tail... In live rears got only about 12 Peromyscus maniculatus, in Mus spce's Got 2 Peromyscus maniculatus, 1 microrus x 1 Lincoln (?) sparrow. Put up garners & microrus. Felled & left at 3:00 p.m. Camped with no reading near Greenville, Rumsos, saw porcupine walking beside road bank roughly 20 mi. before Greenville. Heard what might have been flying squirrels in Greenville camped. Saw deer marmot & pika in Larson Natl Park.
