Left Beedley at 6:00 AM with Dr. N.B. Quay + Mrs. Quay + drove fairly steadily to above locality arriving about 4:30 PM Jan 29.
Road map shows Trona just on San Bern. Co., Inyo Co. line -- actually the town & line are about 1 1/2 mi. apart; Trona to the south, line to the north. Our starting locality was reached by driving about 2 mi. NNE on highway past Trona + taking a dirt road 3/4 mi. E out into the sand + salt flats. An airport lay about a mile further to the east of us close to the base of Slate Range Mts. Arrow Peak was to the NW of us and the N end of the (Dry) Seales Lake must have been close to our camp. Jan. 30. Ground was wetish sand with some other type of material in it -- sort of how it together (minerals left upon drying up? or scratches hole?) but there were 8 or so 20 x 30 foot, 8-10 ft. high sand dunes. There yielded a couple of Lpo. Desert to Dr Quay, area had been used as a garbage dump at times since several days had collectors of old cans. Vegetation was
