A.C. ZICOMI 1958 Journal Brooks Island, 10' Ft., Contra Costa Co., Calif. Jan 5. Put up 5 Blackish Mus Traps by Paul U. Anocson + John C. Onoras on Island. They set out 25 mus. spees from 9:AM to 11 AM + got 6 MUS - 1 eaten in trap. Island is shown on USGS TOPO San Francisco, Calif. Edition of June 1915, Repr. 1932. Paul says a breakwater has been built up from NW Tip of island passing close to the SW tip of Skoan point as on topo sheet. Mice trapped here at "x" + fairly close to N shore, many Grass in this beach + only 6" or so town. Some Sawce N/A in low spots but no Trapping done in this. Less of Island has no houses except Timbers left from an old Querry, only a few Buckeyes for fences. Paul says at least 2 Indian Kitchen Mounds or Shown Mounds are at Shoreline on NE faces of island. He found human remains (unk) in wave-washed face of one beach. A few Garter Snakes seen on Island last Year but none this trip. Rats seem to be common - making Marko tracks in Grass + bushes on Island. Paul says may have been burnt out 22 October 1956. (come
