Aug. 23-25 On 23rd Dr. Benson lifted a large piece of sheet iron at 3:00 PM and found a young one beneath it. I wrote a piece of bowy and found 2"v. nose it about 9:00 PM. In the spots in meadow where grass grew fairly thick some runways or sorts could be seen but mostly runs were not noticeable. Some open runs a couple of inches wide maybe 1/2in deep were seen in three spots in meadow and Dr B, that these might be runs of this species. On 23rd I got 1 (with skull broken) in mus grass under oerhangng bushes beside creek between 6:00 + 8:00 PM. On 25th got 1/2way out of gap in runny running three willow trees in meadow and also 1 on moist brushy ground beside stream. Last spot was usually by woods so these are not apparently restricted to the grass in meadows. Aug. 27-30 Price Flat 5000ft, 12mi NW Happy Camp Lakeville, Calif. Many tadpole shrimp in tank and short grass, also in willows in wet flat, None tadpole on dry hillsides. On Aug 30 saw 1 in grass in meadow about 8:00 AM. Sep 142 SUPAN RANCH 3400ft, 3mi E Montgomery Co, P.O., Shasta Co, Calif. Animals caught here agree with this species as M. camfieldae.
