A.C. ZICORGE 1957 Thompson Montana 4300 ft. Fk Vannoy Grd Spt, T. 14W, R. 46, Sec. 23, Deer Lodge Co, Mont. Aug. 24. Got 5 in meadow, ground with some rocks + pebbles but fairly easy working. Also saw fresh workings in debris spots on wooded hillsides but did not manage to catch anywhere. Dr. Benson got several in meadow also. Coes from snow working seen on meadow. Dr. B. saw 1 case almost completely made up of rocks but that I saw was mostly dirt. Pole Flat, 5000 ft., 12 mi. NW Happy Camp, Deer Lodge Co. Aug. 27-29. I taken each day in runs in meadow and also open rocky slopes in thin timber. Ground almost nowt pebbles + rocks up to 1" in wtrs. Some "snow coes" seen on slopes. Some runs seen in very wet + perry ground among willows but most seen on dry ground. Caught day & night.
