A.C. Zieba 1957 Neofibercaurus gravis 4300 ft. Burt Creek, S. Miss Chester, Putnam Co., Court. Sept. 4 I was space (quail/crush?) between 7:30 PM and 11:30 PM from tank edge on dampround and small island in Willow-Scot marsh. Bairdman would have had little trouble getting on or off island since spruce x willow branches provided bridges. Other species trapped in immediate area were Sorex vagrans, Microtus longicaudus, Peromyscus maniculatus, Zapus princeps x Barys palustris. Weno End Valley, 10 ft., Mrawn Co., Court. Dec. 29 I was in thick bunch and saw geese below on whose ground was mostly frozen up to surface or an inch or so below. Hard to see how running could use extensive tunnel system in this area. Trapped just next to Beaver Road 6 ft. above marsh - dry hillside with brush on other side of road. In this marsh - roughly 75 x 40 wide + 100 x yards long - got several Microtus and 4 or 5 Peromyscus maniculatus during night and day. Also 3 or 4 Merica (?) and 1 "banana" slug. Last weekend got a Sorex trowbridgii within 50 ft. of the shrewmole. Also got a Peritha then as I remember in this marsh. Bunch and saw geese forms a solocuter over area - butter only at bases of grass clumps.
