young.
Weno Elk Valley, 10+ to 75+ ft., Marin Co., Calif.
Oct. 28-29
23 taken these two days on wet ground
in + among bunch- & sowgrass clumps. Mostly
males. Many were taken during day as I
ran teeth several times. About 15 were taken
at 75+ ft. (where I got none the weekend before)
in the 75+ ft. teeth got reftures, Peromyscus
maniculatus + some miceous at night; a few
Peromyscus + miceous in daytime. Sorey
both times. 3 of the 23 were put up as
study skins after being weighed & injected
with Bouin's FLUO. Others were weighed, injecing
measured, sexed & saved as "SKULLS ONLY" for
possible use in MUG or ABG class series.
These all deemed big for VARIANS but Dr. Benson pointed
out lighter underside + tail w/ about 40 or less mm.
S. Trowbridge is darker brown & has 45+ mm. tail.
