Dec.2:
Wendell Valley, 10th to 75 ft, Marin Co, Coast.
Dec.22 HOUSE BEFORE IT * thanks to Mr Martin (owns)
who leased land from Cape to Ocean from a Mr Witter of San Francisco who bought land from Martin some years ago for use as hunting club. Martin said all to reap as did also Mr. Witter who I met [illegible] A.M. Cattle grazed on land but did not seem especially over grazed. Far Wendell Valley about 200 Yds up from Ocean had been dammed for Washbrook hake. A few tule or bunch grass on W side of dam but flooded to 1/2 inches of water. Set 100 mus specs in dug-out centers of bunch grass from 75th ft. About a mile up from ocean to the flooded bunch grass below dam, got sorey prairie dogs, Micrurus, Rathe's, Perom, manichatus + Mus. Rained for past few days + same fields had water just below surface. Gopher mounds noticed but no fresh workings. Rain stopped Sat Dec 21st P.M about 4:00. + I set out yards just after rains. Many traps sprung + caught - rabbits? Saw coon (?) running on edge of bend, found dead
