A.C. ZIEBKER 1957 Journal Butte Creek, 8 mi S Chico, Plumas Co., Cal. 4300 ft. Sept. 4 (am) 2 baby vagrans, 3 Microtus + 2 Peromyscus, Scots Roll and traps at 7:45 am. Nothing in Mareses or Schuyler's; Peromyscus in live traps. 1 Microtus in open meadow + 3 Scot's Vagrants in traps in windows & Scott. Roll+ picked up all traps between noon & 3:00 pm. Got only a Citellus lateralis in Schuyler's & finally a Cutting's species in a live trap (near cave). Pack'd left after putting up specimens at 6:00 am. Drove to Huggins Lake Co., Cal + looked into 2 mine tunnels just outside of town. While Dr. Benson + others has banding birds 10 years or so ago. Saw a large brown Common Crow with light specks all over but could not catch it as it went into hole in cave floor. Nest of Peromyscus & Myotis Thysanodes + saw another Myotis sp. with a band on wing. Slept about 3:00 am in hills few miles from Lakeport. Menlo Co. Harlands Experimental Station, Lkate Co., California Sept. 6 Got up at 8:30 am & drove to station where Char. Therese who had falcon broods job of getting mice for summer showed us around. Saw many F + fawn deer but no bucks. Saw no chipmunks but a few Citellus bichenomy in drain pipes.
