A. C. Breeber 1957 Journal 2 mi. N, 2mi. E McKittreick, Kern Co., Calif. June 3 Got there Saw a cow skeleton 1000 ft. away. Many droppings of sheep or deer about. Left about 9:00 AM after putting up tents. Moon out full all night. Did Quay set his live traps within 2 or 3 feet of burrows mostly under or near bushes, some in furrows scraped in sand duso. I set within 2-3 ft. of bushes (-years Tico to them) first digging a fureow with heel putting paw across the furrow. Other traps set under the bushes. The 3 mice traps were right at the base of bushes - none taken in open. At about 9:30 AM. Heard several squeekings but only saw 1 jo,po by flashlight & couldn't catch him. 2 or 3 lepus seen along road yesterday & this A.M. 27 mi. (by road) W [illegible], San Bernardeo Co., Calif. (on Highway 6) June 4 Got here about 8:00 PM last evening. Puled off highway 66 about 1/2 mi. SE into desert. Set out 67 mus speeds & 6 rat traps around cacti, yuccas & creosote bushes. Ran them at 10:00 PM last nite & got a young neonnia in a very small packy overlooking 2 [illegible] on the gravel & sand. This A.M. had only 1 male [illegible] thus far tail of a second one - July (other trap) sprung. Dr. Quay got 3 [illegible] &
