Jan 25 Big Basin State Park, T.9S., R.3W., Santa Cruz Co.
Got about 8 Peromyscus trapped out of 'F' campground traps. Saved 2 adults & 1 juv. (#442-444), got in about equal numbers about 25+ californicus trapped out of 100 traps in creeping forest area. How far them immature (discarded) & about 4 or 5 eaten in trap. Saved some good californicus & nevis.
Did not get permit to hear tanks so head ranger 'Tiny' Philbrook (Filbrook?) & he said Sacramento had to give it. Write to:

Tried up roads & left for home by way N- Boulos Creek & back up to Saratoga.
While cutting mammals just outside of park met Don Wilhuff & Ralph Arnot coming home from Bayos. They had trapped Peromyscus californicus, nevis & 1 maniculatus near there.
Saw 2 Osceolus in picnic area in Park:
- 1 large antlers, 1 small but no spots. - Neither had antlers. Rain from early AM so species wet. Snowing Santa Cruz Mts not sticking yet.

- Woodpecker - 2
Oreb(?) Junco - 15
Jerry Cook said once on Zoo 125C (Ecology) field trip got Neuroichus near creek in Park.
