MICROTUS CALIFARNICUS APR 15 (CONT) POINT ISABEL, CONTRA COSTA CO., CALIF. HIGH MUD. CAUGHT A MUS RAN ON DYKE. HOWS ABOUT 1 1/4-1 1/2 IN. IN DAY, PRESENT ONLY AMONG TOP OF DYKE OVERHEAD MOSTLY NOT SHATTERED BY GRASS OR SONICAENIA BUT OFTEN SWEARROWING ON 3 SIDES BY 6" or more HIGH GRASS WITH WORN PATH LEADING OUT THRU GRASS OR JUST ON TOP OF DYKE IN OPEN ACROSS TO PATCHES OF GRASS of SANIC or BUSHES, GRASS IN PATNS EROD AND/or worn off close to ground. Several or holes showed fresh, cut blades of grass or flower leaves either outside of hole or showing down in it. No SONICAENIA STEMS noticed in or around holes andno it is plentiful along sides of dyke and in lower, wetter portions of marsh. APR 17 BAYSHORE HIGHWAY at BUCHANAN STREET, ALBANY, ALAMEDA CO., CALIF. 1 of IN MUS SPEC. IN BUNKER PIERO or "BARROW" PIT ON E SIDE OF BAY SHORE HIGHWAY. SPARSE SONICCAENIA 4-10 IN HIGH OTHER GRASS. POND IN HALF OF PIT looked fairly permanent with a 5-8 ft. band of 6 in high SANIC about it but with no runways. TRAPS SET IN GRASS + WOODS & SOME ON HALF-BACK GROUND IN WHAT LOOKED LIKE OLD RUNS AROUND 1 1/2-2 IN. HOLES IN GROUND.
