Rufous Hummingbird (Selasphorus
rufus)
May 24 Winocot Canyon, Center Co., Camp
10:30 AM Saw -> parent at end
of 15 ft high chokeberry bush,
with back towards us. Slow
the solid rufous back, no
camming-, but humming birds flying
nearby a moment before
this one was sighted gave
a short buzz about a second
long-, may have been this one.
10:40 Same(?) bird perched on
small twig in light rain,
moved to higher twig. Feathers
slightly puffed, at no time
did the wings appear very
greenish - just rufous - giving
appearance of all [illegible] rufous
cherrybird with slightly wider
berry & red throat patch.
Throat patch very dark looking
except at certain angles when
it looked[illegible].
