Nov 18 8 mi. S, 3 mi. E Tomales Bruff, 25' ft., Marin Co., Calif. Set out 50 mus. spee. along Smark Stream, and in grass clumps beside & among 10' high willows on E side of road. No runs found by digging in ground anywhere more but around damp along stream & in willows. more?? Set 35 mus. spee's in runs in damp ground beside trickle of water on W side of road. Also 5 rat traps (3 on woodrat house & 2 on fallen tree 15' away). (Novaland) Ran all traps about 6:00 AM (Nov 17) But got only 1 sorex vagrans. Ate supper at John McChurges Ranch & went Nite-hiking with Boo [35] chars. Vichewing Dr Benson shot a Procyon lotar in White Gulch. Eyes shone light orange in lite but greenish when coon's head was turning, saw 2 other pair's of eyes in trees (coon?), walked over a couple of hills & Vic Got 2 other shots at eyes but no bodies. Saw a fox along Pierce Ranch road. Slept in old bunkhouse (on floor). Ran traps at 7:30 AM. (Nov 18). Got 3 sorex trawber, + 3 peromyscus maniculatus on E side of road. On W side of road got 2 sorex trawbrby, + 5 Rithrodontomy's megalotis. (+ the sorex vagrans mentioned above)
