A.C. ZIEGLER 1956 JOURNAL Aug. 18 Oakland (1/2 mi. W Gerzly Peak), Alameda Co., Calif. Put up a rabbit (young one) Caught last night by Vic Howin in chicken wire mesh quail trap baited with grain. Traps have taken 2 or 3 more rabbits and are set mostly in brush along sides of fire road thru Steav- Berry Canyon rim. (19 mi. SW Red Rock (Pima Co.), Pima Co., Arizona) Put up last 5 of prentice Blocoen's frozen Macrotus (finant). (See data May 26, 1956 this Journal) Sept 1 Berkeley (M.V.Z.), Alameda Co., Calif. Got a frozen bat unclaimed in Ward Russell's freezer. (Eptesicus fuscus?) Will put it up + try to find out data on it some day. Sept 3 Berkeley (1200 block Oxford Ave.) Alameda Co., Calif. Found freshly dead Swainson's Thrush on road. Eyes still moist + excreta wet so must have just died or been killed this am or last night. Heavy fat deposits around abdomen and beneath pterylae. Sept 10 3/4 mi. SE Whitehouse Ranch (S23, T13 S R15 E) 700ft, Madera Co., Calif. Jerry Cook (from entomology dept. U.C.) brought in 1 Dipr. Nitidulus x 3 Retinoconymys megnotis trapped
