C.ZIEGELOR 1956 JOVENAN April 22 (cont.) Point Isabel, Contra Costa Co., Calif. From edge of bay inlet, lying breast down & a 2 inch long x 1 inch wide strip of skin & a little meat had been chewed off of lower breast & stomach. Collected. Found an owl(?) pellet 2 1/2 inches long x 3/4 inch wide with yellowish hair & vertebrae & a femur - might have been a large Microtus or Sciurus Patricus. Pellet was on a piece of drift wood with no mice nearby, saw 3 more shore(?) bird skeletons scattered over the drier sand Semicolnia but no Microtus run ways or droppings. Weather - clear but with wisp's of fog coming in about noon. Cool & quite windy, Sweetshooters holding a match at range, time in field 9:15 am - 12:15 pm. Birds: Western Sandpiper - 75+ Dowitchers - 30+ (standing in short sward & along shore at high tide) Brewer's Blackbirds - 2 - See sketch for rough loc of localities mentioned.
