APRIL (cont.)
Point Isabel, Contra Costa Co., Calif.
Saw a dead coypu/ capybara on beach of the adjacent point NW of Isabel and old remains of 2 or 3 (guils?) water or shore birds on Isabel beach.
At one point a distinct trail 3 inches wide goes out of sarnicenia - covered hillocks along pond to be the beach on the bay-facing side of Pt. Isabel marsh.
Also a trail like this seen leading into driftwood drift beside a pool about high tide mark.
Big enough trail for Rottis
Many of the smaller shore birds seen but no predators noticed. Also no birds that would seem to prey on mice more except possibly guils have been seen here to date.
APRIL Bayshore Highway & Buchanan Street, Albany, Alameda Co., Calif.
Set out 50 Mts. Spees & 2 rat traps in sparse sarnicenia & grasses up to 10 in. high beside pond on E side of highway. Traps set 10-15 ft apart near holes 1/2-2 in in dia in side of bank & in ground.
May have been old microtus or old Thomomys feeding holes. Did not appear to be in use now tho. Some
