April 15 (cont.)
Point Isabel, Contra Costa Co., Cal.
Set 2 rat traps 1 below dyke above the line, and another on piece of wood laying across small creek (2 ft wide) running into bay. This last trap sprung but no hair, blood etc. could have just sprung itself. On this board I noticed 3 scat about 1 inch (or as little less) long + two

maybe mustela pennanti?
Saw a rather light brown rat running from some thickets, and along dyke last pm, at about 6:00. Also found lower jaws freshly chewed of meat with back portion missing along dyke - footers mothers well worn down - looked like Rats... Saw an interesting fresh lying under small bush still rather fresh - one of two traps set beside it caught a Microtus. Also caught a mus on dyke + 2 more microtus on knolls mentioned above. Only two years were not by high tide, buried a quart bottle within lowish with ground below dyke and smeared top with sardine & a proper 1/2 sardine into it. High tide filled it up.
