Myotis californicus
1 mi. SE Inverness, Marin Co., California
JUNE 30 Dr. Benson pulled 3 out from under
about roofing strips used to side his
cabin near Inverness. I saved for my
own collection - rest released. Dr.
Benson said THIS (?) species of bat often
roosted under these roofing pieces if
he had bonded some before - there
were unbonded two. There were
lighter
dark brown and rosy brown color
phases in these 3 but I'm afraid
I don't remember which was which
now or whether my specimen was
dark or light phase. Dr. Benson seems
to think color differences were
correlated with age diff's - one
of bats being young of the year.
When released these bats flew
at rather slowly into woods.
