June 27 (cont) Innalo Cr., 15 mi. W Bend, 600 ft Deschutes Co, Ore.
1 Zapus on the side of a log under a Picea about 5 ft. from the creek;
ground moist. 2 Peromyscus, one of
which is not P. maniculatus. These
were caught in the moist forest
edge; 1 Microtus murdax, in a wet
grassy bar on the stream edge
where Spruces and Lodgepole Pine
were growing. Examined the 2
rat traps in the meadow E of
camp and had caught nothing.
Just as I approached, however, I
saw a Microtus go down its hole
and therefore left the traps baited. I
returned at 1:00 p.m. and found a
Micotus richardsoni. Examined the
gopher sets and caught 3 gophers,
all on the SW side of the stream. The
other sets were left as they were. In
the afternoon returned to examine
gopher sets and several mouse
traps which had been left set
where recent signs of Micotus were
found. Had caught a Lincoln
Sparrow 3 inches from the nest on
the edge of a willow thicket
