Tumalo Creek, 1 5 mi. W Bend, 600 ft, Decatur Co., Ore.
of a dead log which "rawacross" the
meadow, and 2 P. maniculatus which
were caught in the forest on the
edge of the meadow. In the moist
glass in the meadow were caught
two Rana and 1 Bufo. In the after-
noon made 8 gopher sets, 6 on the
SW side of the stream, and 2 on the
NE side. All were in meadows
which were grass covered and
none was farther than 50 yds
from a stream. The soil was
moist, bordering on wet. In the
evening set 75 mouse traps and
5 rat traps along the S side of
Tumalo creek in the wet meadows
and low willow thickets. Several
traps were also set in the bordering
forest. Snow was present in several
places at the edge and in the forest.
2 Rat traps were set in a meadow
E of camp where fresh Microtus
signs were seen.
Time 27 Examined trap lines and found:
1 young Microtus in a low willow
thicket along the stream. Ground-
