Wolfson 1938 Sumalo Creels, 11 mi. W Bend, 4100 ft., Geo Clutes Co., Ore. and not more than a half-mile from camp. Except for the set at camp, the locations were in the open or at the edge of an opening e.g. a road. Two sets were on S facing slopes. In the evening set 50 traps about 40' apart in the meadow habitat as before. Nothing caught in mouse traps set along the meadow. Difficult to ex- plain scarcity of small rodents. Fresh gopher workings scarce also. United States Government camp located at meadow - not in use now - but perhaps when was in use rodents were poisoned. Two gophers were caught out of the furie sets made. Went hunting from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in the Leonthus chaparral. Collected 1 For Sparrow. Recognized several Grew-tailed Towhees. Broke camp at 2:30 p.m. CW route to new camp W of Bend: Drove into Bend, and then about 20 mi. by road Westward. Reached Sumalo Creels and camped
