Sumalo Cr., 11 mi. W Bend, 4700 ft., Deschutes Co., Or.
on the ground. Collected a Green
Tailed Towleer here and saw several
others. They came readily to
squealing. Saw here also these:
Hairy Woodpecker, several Callo-
gemophilus. Left chopanal
and went into dense forest to
S of Sumalo Creek. This is an old
forest with much heavy brush
of Ceonotus, Riles, and young
conifers and dead timber. Collected
here were: Williamson Laplander,
Mountain Chickadee, Red-breasted
Nuthatch, and Stellar Jay. Returned
to camp and recognized: Evening
Krosheals 1; Brown Creeper 1; Calareras
Warbler several; Fox Sparrow 1.
In the evening set 20 traps in a
immediately
marshy region N of Tutualo Creek
and about 300 yds. from camp.
Traps were set about sixty feet
apart in moist places. Left this
marshy area and set 30 traps
E of camp in the forest and
chopanal. Traps set about 40 ft.
apart.
