June 20,
(cont.)
4 mi. SW Prineville, 3300 ft., Crook Co., Ore.
drove to a point on the cliffs about
3 mi. by air-line S of camp. I set
5 rat traps and 20 mouse traps
among the rocks about 10-20 ft.
below the top of the cliffs. There
was grass and dead wood present.
Evidence of rats was droppings,
urine, and nest material but now
appeared fresh. Around the cliffs
was seen: a bat; 2 Surley Vultures.
While driving tracks to camp, a
Horned Owl was seen and
collected by A.H.M.
June 21,
drove out to traps with F.T.
and had caught: 1 House Mouse;
4 Peromyscus maniculatus, 2 of
which were immature. No rats
were caught by F.T. or myself.
Saw a Sparrow Hawk (caught
by A.H.M.) in the morning and in
the afternoon we drove camp.
On route to new camp near Bend
in Cascades
drove through Prineville to Bend
and out toward Century drive to Resclutes
