miE, 3 mi. N Wildcat Mt., 4700 ft., Crooks Co., Ore.
on either side of the stream in most
of the region were found: Song Sparrow,
common; Trail Flycatcher, common;
Brewer Blackbird 5; Calliope Hum-
mingbird 2; Stellar Jay 2; Robin,
common; Hairy Woodpecker, several;
Williamsow Sapucker 2; Western
Bluebird 1; Flicker several; Valley
Quail 2; House Wren 3, were seen
in the woodland adjacent to the
stream. Some places were nearly
but no "distinct birds" were found.
here. Near the junction, in the
moist grass near the stream were found
a Barred Owl and a Hyla. Returned
to camp at 10:30 a.m. (started at 6:00)
and heard around camp were several
Evening Grosbeaks. In the evening
about 8:30 P.M. went into meadow
near camp to hunt for bats. Saw
2 but didn't collect any because
couldn't get a good shot.
June 17
En route to new camp from: 11 mi.
West, 1 mi. S Mitchell, 4850 ft., Wheeler
Co. Oregon.
Broke camp at 10:15 a.m. and
drove to Prineville. Arrived at noon.
