Censur of birds recognized : Brown Creeper 1; Red - breasted Nutclate common; Hermif Thrush 2; Henry Woodpecker several ; Mountain Chickadee common ; Western Tanager 4 ; Pine Siskin 1; Arctic Three Woodpecker 1; Red Crossbill 2; Williamson Sap- sucker 1; White - breasted Wood- pecker 1; Canada Jay 2; Jolmie Warbler 1; Ground Squirrel 1; Callospermophilus 1; Pileated Woodpecker 1; Coyote 1, heard early. ne. 14 Left camp at 6:30 and went W. Passed through open forest and over several ridges to large meadow. Observed Chipping Sparrow com- mon; collected Mountain Bluebird 2; House Wren 2; Flicker (collected); Williamson Sapucker 1, collected; Meadow lacked trees and no birds seen in it. On dirt slope near meadow saw Ground Squirrel and seven young entering a "burrow system". Cutanias was common in open
