from a Pygmy Owl. In this same region were seen three Canada
Geese and one was collected. A
also
dead porcupine was found. It had
been dead for several months at
least. The droppings of a carnivore
were in the vicinity - wildcat
or coyote, probably coyote - fur
and bones (not of Porcupine) were in
the feces. From this forest which
is about 1 mile due W of camp I
camp C and came upon a large
meadow surrounded by yellow
pine, larch, fir forest. There were
no trees in the meadow, but
a continuous growth of grass
and other herbaceous plants.
Left the meadow, traveled thru
the forest eastward over several
ridges and another meadow and
returned to camp at 10:30 a.m.

Ruby-crowned Knight - Several
Audubon Warbler - 1
Cassin Purple Finch - several
Clipping Sparrows - common
