Wolfson 1938 June 7, Berkeley to Ochoco National Forest, Wheeler County, Oregon. Elev. 4850'. Left Berkeley from MVZ with Museum Reo trucks and A.H. Miller's Ford. In party are: A.H. Miller, Ward Russell, Fred Test, Don Tappe, Paul Martin, and myself. Drove through Woodland, Redding, and camped for the night a few miles S of Dunsmuir, California June 8, Drove through Dunsmuir, Warden, Klamath Falls, Bend, to Prineville, Crook Co. Oregon. N of Warden saw a colony of Barn Swallows resting in a pile of crushed rocks used for road mending (see Barn Swallow for details). From Prineville we entered the Ochoco National Forest and drove almost to the summit to the dirt road which leads to Markle Creek. Took this road and drove about 2 mi. and made camp. It is about 2 miles farther to Markle Creek on the road. Arrived in the evening about 7:30 p.m. The road is about 75 yds S of camp.
