June 13 11 min. W, 7 min. S Mitchell, Wheeler Co.,
Oregon. Elev. 4850 ft. - ♀ flushed
from nest while stood 3 ft W of
nest. Habitat: dense moist forest
of larch, white fir and douglas
fir on S slope (45°) of canyon. Was
20 yds. from running stream in
bottom of canyon. Nest was in
young, white fir 5 ft. tall and
on S side of a yellow pine which
was 28" inches in diameter at
the same level. The nest was
18 inches from top of white fir.

of sticks, and main part of nest
linit of dried grass. 4 blue eggs
with streakings formed by feces
were collected as well as the nest.
Eggs about 24-36 hours old. Waited
15 minutes for ♀ but she did not re-
turn. No "voice" given when flushed.
