Wolfson 1938 54. July 16. (cont'd) 16 mi S, 3 mi E Lecturni, 5500 ft, Wallowa Co., Ore. However. Hunted remainder of morning on east slope climbing almost to top. Reached none of Conathus and looked for Top Sparrows but found none - odd why none were seen. A Ruffled Grouse and /yg. one the wood she probably had were flushed in a dense patch of poplars. Adult acted as though she were injured. In the conifers near the road at the base of the slope two Chipping Sparrows and 1 Ceanias were collected. July 17 En Route to Berkeley Broke camp at about 6:30a.m. and went to La Grande. Then to Umatilla by means of the highway at the Columbia River. Car trouble at Umatilla - lost 6 hours. Camped outside of Arlington for the night. July 18 Broke"camp" at 5:00 a.m. - traveled three Bend, Klamath Falls, Redding to Berkeley. Arrived at about 1:30 a.m. after covering about 600 miles that day.
