Wolfson 1938 July 14, (cont'd.) 16 mi S, 3 mi E Lostine, 5500 ft. Wallowa Co., Ore. follow dead logs. Examined second trail and found only 1 Celerionymp near a dead log in a small pure stand of larch and ground cover of pine needles. Out of the 4 gopher sets, 2 gophers were caught. Returned to camp and in the afternoon examined remaining gopher sets - nothing caught - traps left. July 15. Left camp at 6:30 a.m. and walked 5 on the road toward the end of the road where the trails begin to E and W. About 1 mile from camp along the road, there were some willows amongst the fir and bordering on a small meadow. In this locality a Black-capped Chickadee was collected. At the time of shooting I did not realize that this was not a Mountain Chickadee which are fairly common in this vicinity. Continued along road, and then took trail along W forks of Lostine R. - called Lostine trail. Saw several Mt. Chickadees, 1 Warbling Vireo, 2 Red-breasted Nuthatches, 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet in a lodge- pole pine forest - a pure stand.
