1 Callogpermophilus, 1 Clivulcree, 1 Entamias
were collected amongst the trees and
shrubs in an open stand near the
road. While watching a Warbling
Vireo, a Weasel was seen. It was
crawling stealthily 3 feet from me
and did not notice me until after a
few seconds. When it did, it
immediately ran for cover. We were
in the open amongst the rocks ori-
ginally. In the evening left camp at
6:00 with Ward Russell to set
mouse traps and gopher traps. We
took the road to the S and took the
Lostine trail to the bridge across
the Lostine River near where the
E and W forks meet. Near the bridge
we set a gopher trap. Freds wounds
were present. We then crossed the
bridge and went along the trail
for about half a mile and entered
the forest cover. It was a young
second growth (?) of lodgepole pine
with few trees over 30 ft. It was
dense and fairly dark, the crown
cover being open sporadically. The
