Wolfson 1938 July 8, (cont.) En route to Wallowa Mts. Snowshoe rabbits were seen of the road to camp from Lostine. July 9. 16 mi S, 3 mi E Lostine; 5500 ft, Wallowa Co., Ore. Camp is in a canyon which runs N and S. The Lostine River runs in the valley floor and the ridges of the canyon rise about 1500 to 2000 ft. The valley floor is several hundred yards wide from E to W and is forested for the most part. The dominant trees are the firs and included with them are Larch, Lodgepole Pine, Spruce, and Hemlocks(?) Rocks (granitic) are common on the slopes and valley floor. They vary in size from a few inches to several feet. In several places landslides have occurred - due to snow - and these places are crowded with fallen trees and boulders. I left camp at 7:00 a.m. and headed south along the road. On a standing deaf tree on the E slope a Red- aped Sapindaceae was collected. Several small streams running
