Wolfson 1938 43. N.Tle.Mallevv B, 21 mi SE Prairie City, 5000 ft. Grant Co., Ore. July 7 Left camp at 7:00 a.m. and hunted in the yellow pine forest to the S. Collected two Mountain Chickadees and 2 Clipping Sparrows. I then went to the dense fir forest to the south of Ellis Creek. Began to imitate a Pygmy Owl and soon one answered tracks. After 10 minutes of whistling, the owl came within 30 yards of my position and I shot him. Returned to camp at 8:30 and skinned birds remainder of day. July 8. Broke camp at 6:30 a.m. and started to Prairie City. En route to Wallowa Mts. Had difficulties with running out of gasoline and one flat tire, and arrived at Prairie City at noon. Left Prairie City and drove thru Burns, Enterprise, and Lostine to Lostine River road. Drove out of Lostine 17.5 miles and camped at Lady Forest camp in the Wallowa National Forest. Arrived at 9:00 a.m. and made camp. Three
