Wolfson 1938. N.E. Malleurk, 15 mi E, 12 mi S Prairie City, 5100 ft, Baker Co., Ore. July 6 cat. places in the meadow there were small clumps of firs and lodgepole pines. The vegetation of the meadow varied from ankle- high to knee- high and contained many flowering plants characteristic of wet meadows: Ruios, Composites, grasses, sedges, Legumes etc. and Ranunculuss. Rufous Hum- mingbirds and Calliope Humming- birds were abundant and feeding on the flowers. Oregon Ground Squirrels and Columbian Ground Squirrels were abundant and not shy in the dry places in the meadow and where there was sparse vegetation and dead logs. In the region near the forest edge amongst the few willows were collected 1 Fox Sparrow and 1 Song Sparrow. In the more open moist grass where there were one or several scattered trees were collected 2 Lincoln Sparrows and 1 Claysburg Sparrow. At the forest edge 1 Hairy Woodpecker and 2 Chickarees were collected. A flock of 50 Red Crossbills was seen
