Holmes, R. 1960 23. Erolia alpina 11 July Barrow, Alaska The nest on the ridge is still there; only 1 bird was seen nearby. The nest is located on the top of the ridge in a fairly stormy area. The cup is a depression among the grasses & is fairly well covered by the overgrowth. 12 July - A Pr with 4 young (1-2"d) was seen just South Central Marsh. by Maker & Reynolds. Several displays were heard in the morning & evening near North's area. 13 July During a trip to ootepik slough only 1 bird was seen. I was surprised to find a few in this area which appears to be good redback habitat. No displaying birds were heard either. 14 July Barrow -> Shorackit, Alaska. Two birds were seen flying together just N. of Footprint Lake. When chased they remained closely associated & when both were collected, they were 2" with liver breast patches. These were the only two seen on the trip from Barrow to the lake & return. I bird was seen at the north end (The plot (1) The 80.60).
