Erolia alpina
11 July Barrow, Alaska
The nest on the ridge is still
there; only 1 bird was seen
nearby. The nest is located on the
top of the ridge in a fairly stormy
area. The cup is a depression
among the grasses & is fairly well
covered by the overgrowth.
12 July - A Pr with 4 young (1-2"d) was
seen just South Central Marsh.
by Maker & Reynolds. Several
displays were heard in the
morning & evening near North's area.
13 July During a trip to ootepik slough only
1 bird was seen. I was surprised to
find a few in this area which
appears to be good redback habitat. No
displaying birds were heard either.
14 July Barrow -> Shorackit, Alaska.
Two birds were seen flying together just N. of
Footprint Lake. When chased they remained
closely associated & when both were
collected, they were 2" with liver
breast patches. These were the only two
seen on the trip from Barrow to
the lake & return. I bird was seen
at the north end (The plot (1)
The 80.60).
