Homes, R. 1960 23. Erolia calpina 9 July Kersault, Alaska hard to find, even though the diameter was only about 3 feet. Their coloration blended in extremely well. The adults gave warning to the young, who immediately froze + didn't move. This also occurs in the brood seen last night. Seven displaying birds seen heard today. 10 July - The broods and adults near the wanigan were not seen today. Yesterday evening, they seemed to be moving west after 7 am & the ridge. A common call note when two siren are. The birds have overcame their surprise at being individual with a rhaaa, rhaaa, rhaaa.... This has a trill like quality, and is given when the bird is alert to aware of an intruder's presence. It was also noted yesterday, morning that 8 hours after the lost chick latched, there were no signs. The broken shells within the 3' diameter of the pen. Several birds heard displaying today, but these displays are getting weaker & weaker and are not given as frequently. egg Shells gone
