Erolia alpina
21 June
Derrail (Barrow), Alaska
There appears to be several pairs of
birds in the plot areas. The wing
raising up on landing is quite universal
among all of the redbacks. The
wing-up towards the breast is
also quite common when the bird
is started on the ground.
23 June - A nest was located 50 yards
NW of the wanya. It is located
on the top of a low polygon and
is surrounded only by low grass,
thereby making it greatly exposed.
The four eggs are light tan in
color with darker, rather large,
spot-like brown. It does not
seem to have the very small spot
as does the egg of the Pectoral.
Pair was seen in the plot today, &
These are plotted on the
Census record.
24 June - A second nest was located today. This one

It was located on the top of a low
polygon among a clump of standing

the area had been clipped and was
laying flat. The bird could be seen
