Holmes, R. 1960 Erolia alpina 21 June Derrail (Barrow), Alaska There appears to be several pairs of birds in the plot areas. The wing raising up on landing is quite universal among all of the redbacks. The wing-up towards the breast is also quite common when the bird is started on the ground. 23 June - A nest was located 50 yards NW of the wanya. It is located on the top of a low polygon and is surrounded only by low grass, thereby making it greatly exposed. The four eggs are light tan in color with darker, rather large, spot-like brown. It does not seem to have the very small spot as does the egg of the Pectoral. Pair was seen in the plot today, & These are plotted on the Census record. 24 June - A second nest was located today. This one was on the plot, first N.W. 9.2. It was located on the top of a low polygon among a clump of standing grease. The nest of the vegetation in the area had been clipped and was laying flat.
